In 1996, Mary Williams Fine Arts opened its doors with a dream of becoming specialists in fine representational artists. We are proud to say that after over a decade of working with artists from coast to coast, the men and women we represent today are true to our standards of excellence. We are lucky indeed to have such a talented and dedicated people under our umbrella.
As you are browsing, keep in mind that many of our artists will consider special commissions and also offer fine art reproductions of their paintings.

I am Janice Sugg, and I consider myself a Colorado native, growing up in Denver, Colorado in the 1960's. I've always loved Colorado and consider painting plein air in the West a great inspiration and privilege, as well as a challenge and adventure - considering the changing weather conditions.
I am especially attracted to the mood and atmosphere about me when I'm painting outdoors. I look for contrast in a scene, of light and shadow, and the unique color palate composed of that light which changes every day.
I remember the smells, the temperature, and the people I've painted with; even the bugs, rain, wind, and dust. I think that is a large part of what makes plein air painting so fulfilling. I often feel I have become absorbed in the environment.
I started painting several years ago with Patti Andre at the Loveland Academy. I've also studied with Lani Vlaanderen, and Carol Mack. In addition to studio painting I paint plein air mostly in northeast Colorado near the Longmont area where I am from and in Estes Park.
In 2004 I traveled to Italy to paint plein air on the Amalfi Coast with Molly Davis. What a rewarding experience!
For a painter there is nothing better than sharing my experience with others and seeing their reactions. I like it when people say, "I feel as if I know that place." That's the best reward.
